British
West Indies Airways, BWIA, was founded
in 1940 and operated until December 2006 when it was
amalgamated into the new 'Caribbean Airlines'. BWIA was headquartered at Piarco International
Airport, Port Of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago
where it remaind until the amalgamation.
The Virtual
BWIA website was launched in April 2005 from the 'Freewebs'
hosting service where it operated for twelve months.
In May 2006 we discovered 'fly-va.com' and
transferred to their server in the same month.
Caribbean Airlines commenced operation in
January 2007 and incorporated the infrastructure and
route system of BWIA. It is still headquartered at
Piarco.
A
Caribbean Airlines Virtual website was launched towards
the end of February 2007 but was abandoned by its
authors a couple of months later.
Due to
popular opinion the Virtual BWIA website remained
operational and was not amalgamated into Caribbean
Airlines Virtual. Good thing too !
We have now grown to a pilot base of over 200 ! A very
popular Virtual Airline indeed !
The
management group at Virtual BWIA decided towards the end
of 2007 to 'incorporate' Caribbean Airlines Virtual into
'BWIA' and this is the result. Please enjoy. |
